On September 29, 2022 Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa  signed an agreement to establish the headquarters of the Latin Patriarchal Vicariate in Nicosia (Cyprus), stating that this vicariate will become a separate and independent place where all administrative and spiritual matters of the Latin parishes and their institutions in Cyprus will be handled. From the beginning of December 2022, Fr. Bruno Varriano, OFM, patriarchal vicar in Cyprus, will officially reside there.
