The President of the Republic of East Timor José Manuel Ramos-Horta has visited Salesian Cardinal Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, Archbishop of Dili. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Dili and was an opportunity for an exchange of information and evaluations regarding the preparation of the next apostolic visit of Pope Francis to the country.

"The meeting, reports to Fides Don Bento Pereira, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of East Timor, was announced some time ago by the President. The conversations made it possible to check on the progress of the process preparation for the visit of Pope Francis, who will be in our country from September 9 to 11. The preparations for the papal trip involve the local Church, the government and the Apostolic Nunciature in a spirit of cooperation".
