The UAE reveals a rare medieval ritual manuscript

Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia :

A rare Mudéjar Antiphonary, an ancient Christian liturgical book enriched with Arabic-Islamic artistic elements, was presented in Dubai at the Crossroads of Civilizations Museum, in collaboration with the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.

Bishop Paolo Martinelli took part in the event, highlighting how this work is “a fruitful intersection of civilizations”—a message that speaks to our world today as “a meaningful example for our life together—one that adds beauty to the world.”

“This manuscript does not speak only of the past. It speaks of what remains possible,” said His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, who also emphasized that “Civilizations do not grow in isolation. They grow through encounter.”

In this light, the presence of such a manuscript in the United Arab Emirates becomes a quiet yet powerful sign of what dialogue and coexistence can generate.
