The Mariathon takes place every year during the month of May and represents one of the most significant moments for the international Radio Maria network, which is now present in more than 90 countries. It is an initiative that brings together listeners, volunteers, and collaborators in a great movement of solidarity, prayer, and concrete support for the Marian radio mission.
In Guatemala, Radio Maria began broadcasting on 8 September 1997, and over the years has progressively expanded its presence throughout the country, now reaching approximately 75 per cent of the national territory. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day on frequency 103.3 FM in the Guatemala City and Sacatepéquez areas and is supported by 11 strategically distributed repeaters across the country.
In addition to FM broadcasting, the station is also available online through its website, thus ensuring access to spiritual and educational content for listeners outside terrestrial coverage areas. The Mariathon therefore represents not only a fundraising initiative, but also a concrete sign of the growth and vitality of Radio Maria’s mission in the country.
