On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal visited the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Amman. This was his first visit since the start of his Episcopal service in late January, where he held a meeting with the CCSM's member of staff and its Council of Consultation.
Upon arrival, Bishop Twal was welcomed by CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader and the CCSM members of staff. Following a private meeting with Fr. Bader, Bishop Twal met with the CCSM's members of staff, during which he expressed the Church's profound respect and appreciation for the mission conveyed by the CCSM since its establishment in 2012. He also lauded abouna website which was launched since 2003.
He also valued the CCSM's unstinting efforts, led by Fr. Bader and his members of staff, in supporting the Church's mission and message through media, either through the abouna websites in both Arabic and English, or with regards to the activities, conferences, seminars and workshops which the CCSM holds and participates in at various levels whether for the local faithful or for the society.
Bishop Twal pointed out that the Latin Vicariate, in the context of its new outlook, is currently striving to formulate a strategic vision for the media, by building on the achievements made in the past, as well as on the means to attain a renewed phase of work, with the aim of continuing the same mission in a spirit of cooperation, communion, and skill.
For his part, Fr. Bader welcomed Bishop Twal on his visit the CCSM, which is affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate, pointing out that the comprehensive support extended by the Latin Patriarchate since its founding, provides cogent evidence of its deep belief in the role of media in supporting the Church's mission, as well as its spiritual and humanitarian values. Noting that in light of the "new phase" of the Latin Church in Jordan, Fr. Bader reaffirmed that the CCSM is one of the institutions affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate and will always remain at its service.
On the other hand, Bishop Twal met with the members of the Council of Consultation--headed by Mr. Omar Naber-- who presented to him an outline of their views and ambitions regarding the future activities of the CCSM. He thanked them for their voluntary and advisory work, and expressed his vision for media in general as well as Christian media in particular. He also praised the efforts exerted to attain constructive cooperation between the Latin Patriarchate's media and national media institutions.
After listening to the CCSM's current affairs, Bishop Twal listened to proposals and future outlook presented with professionalism by the members of the Council of Consultation, namely Archimandrite Dr. Bassam Shahatit, Fr. Dr. Imad Alamat, Mr. Omar Naber, Mr. Nabil Ghaishan, Mr. Jamil Nimri, Dr. Safa' Shweihat, Dr. Marcel Jwainat, Ms. Rania Tadros, Mr. Azmi Shahin, Mr. Ramzi Khoury, and Mr. Omar Abawi.
Later, the CCSM held a dinner banquet in honor of Bishop Iyad marking his first visit to the CCCSM in the presence of the CCSM's members of staff and its Council of Consultation.
