On Tuesday, October 14, Bishop Paolo met with all the priests serving in the parishes of Oman at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ghala, Muscat. Later in the afternoon, he blessed the newly built priests’ private chapel in Ghala parish.
It had been more than six months since the last meeting held in March 2025. During that time, many developments have taken place, including the election of a new Pope. Many topics were discussed in a friendly atmosphere during the meeting, as the various communities face several challenges.
In his opening address, the Bishop updated the priests on his recent meeting with Pope Leo and his participation in some Jubilee events in Rome. He specifically focused on the Jubilee of migrants and the missionary world, emphasizing the special role of migrants to be “missionaries of hope.”
He also highlighted how the new situation in the Middle East could have positive consequences also for the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, particularly for the small Catholic community Yemen, and whished for a renewed Christian presence in the South of the country.
Bishop Paolo reiterated his call for continued messages of peace and prayer for peace, urging everyone to remain committed to building it - beginning from our hearts, relationships and communities.
In the afternoon, Bishop Paolo dedicated the new priests’ private chapel, named after St. Damian, like the one in Assisi where St. Francis first heard the Lord's call: “Repair my house”.
“Every time we bless a chapel, we are reminded that the Church is not just a building, but the people of God; we are reminded of the great mystery of the unity of believers. Our task, as with this chapel, is to have a place for Jesus, a place where Jesus is living.”
