Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Jamal D'aibes has named Fr. Simon Hijazin as spiritual adviser for rehabilitation and correction centers in Jordan.
In the letter of appointment, addressed to Fr. Hijazin, Bishop D'aibes said: ”The Church provides pastoral care for this category of our brethren who are at the rehabilitation and correction centers in Jordan. This service requires parental care on your part during your meeting with them. We do not condemn anyone, but rather make them feel that the Church cares for them."
Bishop Jamal D'aibes pointed out that "this service requires expression of respect for those you meet and maintaining the privacy of their circumstances." He added: "In this service, I hope you coordinate with other priests from the Latin Patriarchate, who are located in different places, so that they can cooperate with you in visiting nearby centers."
The bishop thanked the former spiritual adviser, Father Iyad Bader, who worked for the past three years as spiritual adviser for rehabilitation and correction centers in various parts of Jordan. Fr. Simon had earlier worked as a spiritual adviser for rehabilitation and correction centers before leaving for Rome to study theology.
