Bishop Iyad Twal has celebrated Holy Mass at the historic Como Cathedral, which was concelebrated by several priests and attended by a large congregation of the faithful. He also met with Cardinal Oscar Cantoni to discuss the situation of the Church and the Christian presence in the Middle East.

The following day, Bishop Twal delivered a lecture at the Cardinal Ferrari Center on the Christian presence in the Middle East, stressing that Christianity is an integral part of the region’s identity despite the prevailing challenges and the emigration it faces. He stressed Jordan’s role as a model of common living and a message of peace.

Bishop Twal also announced the beginning of preparations for the Jubilee of the Baptism of the Lord at the Baptism Site, during which he invited everyone to make a pilgrimage to Jordan and participate in this spiritual occasion.
