Jordan: Bishop Iyad Twal celebrates Holy Mass marking the Feast of the Annunciation
en.abouna.org :

Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal has celebrated Holy Mass at the Church of the Annunciation in Jabal Luweibdeh, celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation while marking the 65th anniversary of the church and the parish. Parish priest Fr. Simon Hijazin concelebrated the Holy Mass in addition to several priests and deacons, in the presence of a large gathering of parishioners.

In his homily, Bishop Twal noted that the Feast of the Annunciation is a unique event that changed the course of human history and paved the way for salvation through the "yes" spoken by Blessed Mary. He added that God neither choose palaces nor places of greatness, but rather came to the simplicity and humility of Nazareth to affirm that His plan for salvation begins in humble hearts open to His presence.

His pointed out that faith does not imply understanding everything, but rather trusting in God even amidst weakness and queries. He affirmed that the question is "how?" is a natural expression of a person seeking God, yet the answer remains in the presence of the Holy Spirit. He concluded his homily by calling on the faithful to say "yes" to God as Mary did without hesitation or setting conditions, because it is this "yes" that works miracles and opens the way for Christ to be born in their daily lives.

On the other hand, with faith filled with reverence and hope, and with hearts exuding joy and reflecting the presence of one extended family, a solemn Mass was also celebrated on Wednesday April 25, 2026 marking the Feast of the Annunciation.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal and concelebrated by Fr. Majdi Siryani and Fr. Humam Khzouz, in the presence of members of staff of the Latin Patriarchate Vicariate in Jordan—which includes employees of the Ecclesiastical Court, the Finance Committee, and the Schools Administration in addition to members of staff of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan.

This feast celebration unveiled the significance of the Annunciation and the start of the mystery of salvation, as well as it invited the faithful to deepen their faith while renewing their trust in the Lord’s will in our lives and mission.

The Feast of the Annunciation invites the faithful to reflect on God's annunciation in our lives. It is rather a period to consider how we respond to God's invitation to accept life's vicissitudes and to respond with love and patience in the midst of the prevailing hard circumstances. This feast is a reminder that we accept Lord Jesus into our world, as well as to welcome the Divine's inspirations. It is due time to open our hearts to the Lord's annunciation, as well to trust in the Divine’s power of love and grace.

May the Feast of the Annunciation usher in a new era of peace, goodness and blessings that restore to the Middle East an atmosphere of harmony, love, and cessation of hostilities.
