In a meeting exuding closeness, solidarity, and hope, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal met on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 with a group of students from the Parish of the Holy Family in Gaza, whose care and support in Jordan is being followed up by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, amid the difficult humanitarian circumstances being endured by the Gazans.
These students are currently pursuing their higher education at the American University of Madaba (AUM), under the close attention and care of the Church that seeks to provide a safe and stable environment designed to help them continue life marked by attaining academic education and a promising future.
During the meeting, Bishop Twal expressed the Church's closeness to the people of Gaza and affirmed that these initiatives stem from the Church's mission, which is based on love, human dignity, and brotherhood. He stressed that the Latin Patriarchate will remain by the side of its community, especially in times of pain and hardship.
The meeting also constituted a brotherly space filled with love and exchange of views, where the students shared their experiences, challenges, and hopes in a family atmosphere that reflected the spirit of ecclesial solidarity and genuine care for the human person, far from all forms of marginalization or exclusion.
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, through the Latin Patriarchal Vicariate in Jordan, continues its efforts to support the affected students and families, guided by its pastoral and humanitarian mission towards the people of the Holy Land, which affirms that the Church remains forever an open home that welcomes her community with love and hope.
