Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal celebrated Easter Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Nazareth Church in Sweifieh, Amman, on Sunday April 20, 2025 which was concelebrated by parish priest Fr. Hanna Kildani, assistant priest Fr. Paolo Sepich, deacon Hayel Almat, deacon John, and acolyte Muhannad Khoury.
At the outset of the Holy Mass, parish priest Fr. Hanna Kildani welcomed Bishop Twal and thanked the security apparatuses for their tireless efforts and vigilance which is designed to ensure the safety of the churches and the faithful throughout the holiday season. He also thanked priests, nuns, deacons for their services during the Lenten and the holiday season. He also thanked all those who dedicated their time to serve the church and the parish.
Then, Bishop Twal delivered the Easter Sunday homily, during which he spoke about the resurrection of the Lord noting that this is the good news addressed by the apostles and mentioned in the Gospel. He called on believers to experience the resurrection in their hearts and homes.
Concluding his homily, Bishop Twal called for praying for Jordan and its wise leadership, so that God may perpetuate the blessing of peace. He praised the efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and Crown Prince Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah II for supporting the peace process based on justice.
Later, prayers were offered for the attainment of peace throughout the world, for those who are suffering, for priests, and for consecrated persons. At the end of the Holy Mass, Bishop Twal gave the faithful the Easter blessing to the tune of hymns, and then he exchanged Easter greetings with the parishioners and priests.
This solemn Holy Mass, marking the Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord, is the first one celebrated at Our Lady of Nazareth Church in Sweetie, Amman, following his episcopal ordination last February.
