Jordan: Christians celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection
By Munir Bayouk/en.abouna.org :

On Sunday, April 20, Christian Jordanians marked the Feast of the Resurrection which is the most important feast in Christianity. Prayers were held in various churches on Holy Saturday night and Sunday morning, with a distinguished attendance of believers. Sermons were delivered, which highlighted the spiritual and human meanings of this feast.

Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, delivered an Easter message, his first since his nomination as bishop of the Latin Church in the Kingdom. He said: "In this blessed Easter season, I am delighted to address you expressing love, faith, and hope. This feast is the foundation of our faith, hope, and spiritual strength. Faith in the Risen Christ changes our lives, brings about a continuous resurrection within us, and transcends us from darkness into light."

Bishop Twal added, "Easter is a message of renewed life for all of us, and an opportunity to reflect on the image of the Risen Christ in our daily lives. Consequently, we strive to work and live a better future by discovering the power of the presence of the Risen Christ, which turns every action we undertake into a testimony and a message of love in our society, in our beloved country, Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah II".

At the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Tla' Al Ali, western Amman, Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader pastor of the church and director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media, said: "It is wonderful that Christians from all over the world, numbering more than two billion people, mark the feast together this year saying: 'Lord Christ is Risen... He is Truly Risen.' We hope that the good efforts of the heads of churches around the world will continue to annually standardize the date for the celebration of the Feast of the Resurrection, not just during this leap year."

He added that this year we celebrate the 2025th anniversary of the birth of  Lord Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem, baptized in the waters of the Jordan River, died, and rose from the dead in noble Jerusalem. We are the children of the Resurrection, and the children of this hope that the glorious Feast of the Resurrection brought forth. We always pray for peace and stability in beloved Jordan, and for its survival in the face of any attempt to destabilize its security and stability, through the efforts of the security services, under the leadership and guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, and His Highness the Crown Prince Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah II.

Fr. Bader conveyed a message of well-wishes to the extended Jordanian family and to all those celebrating the Feast of the Resurrection around the world, wishing them happy and joyful days to come.
