Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal has received Spanish Ambassador to Jordan His Excellency José Luis Pardo Cuerdo at the Latin Vicariate in Amman.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on means to strengthen cooperation between the Church and the Spanish Embassy, as well as launching joint cultural and social initiatives that serve the local community.

They also addressed the importance of Christian pilgrimage to the holy sites in Jordan, in their capacity as a spiritual and cultural bridge that connects believers from around the world with the land that witnessed significant Biblical events.

Bishop Twal pointed out that Jordan is a distinguished destination for Christian pilgrims and underlined the role of international cooperation in supporting this vital sector.

For his part, Ambassador José Luis Pardo Cuerdo expressed his deep appreciation for the Church’s role in serving society and enhancing interfaith dialogue. He stressed his country’s commitment to continuing constructive cooperation in various fields, including the encouragement of pilgrimage tourism.
