Wednesday, July 29, 2026 marked the launch of a series of training courses for university students on "Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Promoting Dialogue and Human Dignity," which is organized by the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and its office in Jordan.

At the outset of the course session, CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader praised the CCSM’s continued  partnership with KAS and expressed his appreciation to university presidents and faculty deans for their continued cooperation in nominating students to participate in these annual CCSM’s organized workshops.

Fr. Bader noted that artificial intelligence (AI) represents a natural development of technologies made by the human mind. However, he stressed that AI can never replace human beings, as the human person and dignity remain the foundation and ultimate goal of any ethical use of these technologies. He also warned against the misuse of AI, particularly in wars and conflicts, as well as affirmed that such technologies must always remain at the service of humanity.

For her part, Director of the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung in Jordan Dr. Veronika Ertl  expressed her pleasure at participating in and overseeing the training courses. She also highlighted KAS' role in Jordan over the past four decades with regards to supporting intellectual, educational, and dialogue-based initiatives.

The training program is administered by AI specialist Dr. Lubna Ammari, an artificial intelligence specialist who presented two working papers which included interactive discussions, questions and contributions from the participating students. This enriched the dialogue as well as facilitated the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

On the first day, the participants included students from the American University of Madaba, the German Jordanian University, Tafila Technical University, and Philadelphia University. The program  sessions are scheduled to continue with students from Yarmouk University, the Hashemite University, the University of Petra, Al al-Bayt University, and the Middle East University.
