Jordan: Feast of Saints Peter and Paul marked at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church

By Munir Bayouk/en.abouna.org :

A solemn Holy Mass was celebrated on Saturday June 29, 2024 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Amman marking the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. The Holy Mass was celebrated by parish priest Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader, and concelebrated by Fr. Manuel Bader, as well as assistant priests Ala' Ba'ir and Wajdi Twal, in addition to Deacon Jubran Salameh. The Holy Mass coincided with the 59th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Fr. Manuel Bader, the 29th anniversary of the ordination of Fr. Rif'at Bader, and the 5th anniversary of the ordination of Fr. Ala' Ba'ir, as well as the 12th diaconal ordination anniversary of Deacon Jubran Salameh.

In his homily, Fr. Rif'at Bader spoke about the two great saints who built the Church according to the commandments of Lord Jesus Christ by teaching and preaching despite their suffering, as they bore witness and martyrdom in Rome. He added that Lord Jesus Christ is able to transform one's life and lead one to holiness as was the case with Peter and Paul. He called on believers to currently seek the intercession of these two saints who lived in the first century, for God is able to transform us into saints and intercessors for others.

In his homily, Fr. Rif'at called on believers to pray for the 265th successor of Saint Peter, pleading the Almighty Lord to overwhelm Pope Francis with spiritual blessings and wisdom to lead the Universal Catholic Church. He also thanked the believers for their prayers and wishes for him, for his uncle Fr. Manuel, for Fr. Ala', and for Deacon Jubran on the anniversary of their ordinations. He also urged the believers to pray for new priestly vocations, as the Catholic world usually witnesses the ordination of new priests in large numbers on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

At the end of the Holy Mass, the priests and the deacon received well wishes from the parishioners on the occasion of the anniversary of their ordinations.
