Jordan: Graduation of the 10th cohort of the American University of Madaba

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the American University of Madaba held a graduation ceremony for its 10th cohort at the Cultural Palace Theater in Amman. The celebration was attended by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Apostolic Nuncio of Jordan Archbishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso.

 

Among those present were AUM President Dr. Mamoun Akroush,  several members of the board of trustees and the board of deans, faculty and administrative staff, parents and friends of the graduates, as well as several prominent academic and community figures.

 

In his address, Cardinal Pizzaballa conveyed his pride and delight in the graduates' accomplishments, praising their commitment and effort in reaching this important academic milestone. He underscored the universal value of science and knowledge across all religions, linking these ideals to the university's motto, “Wisdom and Knowledge.” He also acknowledged the university's ongoing progress in various areas and its expansion through new academic programs.

 

AUM President Dr. Akroush delivered a speech expressing gratitude to the sponsors of the graduation ceremony and extending congratulations to the graduates for their successful completion of their studies. He acknowledged the dedication of the faculty and administrative staff who contributed to this achievement and highlighted the university’s use of cutting-edge technologies to further knowledge and support Jordan's vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in partnership with the Latin Patriarchate. Dr. Akroush also noted AUM’s notable academic accomplishments, including receiving accreditation from the New England Commission for Higher Education.

 

AUM student Tarek Bilal and Basma Ghassan addressed the audience on behalf of the graduates, thanking the university and faculty for their support throughout their academic journey, which helped shape their development and prepare them for future leadership roles.

 

Mr. Yazan Mahadeen, representing the master’s graduates, spoke about the importance of this day as the start of a new journey and a gateway to new opportunities, made possible by the university’s support.

 

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of degrees to graduates across various disciplines and the recognition of outstanding students.
