Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

Jordanian women have painted a bright image and heroic stances that have made them assume the position they deserve, whereby they will remain an icon of success everywhere and at all times.

Marking the International Women’s Day, which coincides on March 8 every year, while representing a symbol of women’s long struggle for the attainment of their rights, the Rosary Sisters School, Jabal Amman, held a group of functionaries to mark the International Women’s Day, in coordination with the school administration, represented by Sister Marie-Pierre Qandah, and coordinator of the Springs of Hope in Jordan Sister Cecile Hijazin, and supervisor of the Ambassadors of Hope students at the school, teacher Lina Younis.

The functionaries included several volunteer initiatives including, filming street meetings centered on women and the challenges they face, raising awareness questions about the phenomenon of human trafficking, as well as presenting various drawings showing the scourge of this phenomenon and relevant expressive artistic scenes. They students also carried out volunteer work that encourages them and instills in them the spirit of volunteer work and in the spirit of one team.

Among the students’ activities which disseminated the idea of commemorating the International Women’s Day--not only confined the size but also to the scope of celebrating the anniversary--whereby the scope of focus expanded to include issues relevant to violence against women, refraining from marrying minors, human trafficking, and raising the world’s awareness of the importance of the role of women in various areas of life.

This activity carried out by the team of the Ambassadors of Hope at the Rosary Sisters School helped the students promote their personalities, increase knowledge, and help people recognize the scourge of this phenomenon.
