On his first pastoral visit, Latin patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Jamal Daibes visited the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Naour on Friday, January 6, during which he visited the Municipality of Naour where he was welcomed by Naour Mayor Mazyyid Al-Masa'fa Al-Ajarmah and Scared Heart of Jesus Church pastor Fr. Bashir Bader, the town's dignitaries, as well as municipality employees.
After playing the national anthem, Naour delivered an address in which he welcomed Bishop Daibes on behalf of the people of Naour, and spoke about the historical and civilized partnership between Muslims and Christians in addition to Jordan's role in defending the holy sites in Jerusalem in accordance with the Hashemite custodianship.
For his part, Bishop Daibes expressed pleasure for visiting Naour, prided himself in all the components of society where all work jointly in serving the homeland. He said: "Naour remains a bright model of this harmony, brotherhood, and affiliation to this country, as well as loyalty to the Hashemite family led by King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, and Crown Prince Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah II. He stressed that harmony as has been in the past and present time, has a future that we build together." He stressed that the Latin Church will continue its message aimed at serving the homeland and its citizens.
Later, the mayor presented Bishop Baibes, Fr. Bashir, and newly named member of the municipal council Jiries Odah with the municipality shields.
At the outset of the Holy Mass, Fr. Bashir welcomed Bishop Jamal on his first pastoral visit since his nomination as Latin patriarchal vicar, and announced on his behalf, as well as on behalf of the Rosary Sisters and the parishioners the first centenary since the establishment of the Naour parish which was established in 1924, while the church was built in 1956.
In his homily on the Feast of Epiphany, Bishop Jamal expressed happiness at marking the centenary, saying: "We thank the Lord for the blessing of a hundred years, and for the holy sacraments that were celebrated in this church which bears the loving name of the "Heart of Jesus". He also talked about the Feast of the Epiphany and quoted Pope Francis' homily which states that Lord Jesus "is the radiant morning star, the sun of justice, the merciful splendor of God, who loves every man and woman, and all the peoples of Earth.”
After the Holy Mass, the attendees greeted the bishop and welcomed him in their town. Then, the parish priest held a banquet in the hall of Our Lady of Lourdes which is adjacent to the church.
