Jordan: Second group of Ambassadors of Hope launched at Rosary Sisters School of Misdar
Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

On February 8, 2024, the Rosary Sisters School of Misdar, in Amman, which is administered by Sister Yvonne Awwad, launched the second group of Ambassadors of Hope marking the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking, during which a celebration was held marking the feast day of Saint Josephine Bakhita.

After playing the national anthem, School Director Sister Yvonne Awwad addressed the students on the scourge of human trafficking which spreads in the world, and how we must combat it as well as educate students, the youth, and the local community about this scourge at a time when His Holiness Pope Francis launched an appeal to combat "the shameful scourge' of human trafficking, and decrying that it ' disfigures humanity.' Thus, we must protect society from this phenomenon and eliminate it through awareness, advocacy, and protection of those badly harmed.

On the international day of prayer against this scourge, the students prayed and supplicated with their teachers, administration and the second group of the Ambassadors of Hope. This was interrupted by a period of silence, listening to the voice of God, and contemplating in prayer what God wants from them in their capacity as volunteer ambassadors to work on raising awareness of all segments of society against this painful phenomenon.

Later, the names of the members of the second group of the Ambassadors of Hope were announced, as they will be prepared to truly be ambassadors in their school, homes, and the local community.

We congratulate our volunteer students for being ambassadors of hope in their country. We also congratulate the school, its administration, and its teachers, represented by school Director Sister Yvonne Awwad, and Dr. Shadha Erekat, a volunteer who serves as the supervisor of the first group of the ambassadors of hope and is one of the members of the work team in our schools in Jordan.
