Sister Samia Nassar, a member of  the Basilian Chouerite Order of Saint John the Baptist and director of Our Lady of Nazareth School in Jabal Al-Hussein, has  been elected as the new president of the Union of  Religious Congregations (URC) in Jordan, succeeding Sister Sara Ghoneim, who will be posted in Italy. The election took place during a meeting held at Terra Sancta College in Amman.

At the opening of the meeting, URC Adviser Fr. Rashid Mustrih welcomed the attendees and lifted up a prayer to the Holy Spirit seeking guidance in choosing the new president. He thanked Sister Sara Ghoneim for the efforts and dedication she exerted during her term as president of the URC, and presented Sister Sara with a commemorative gift as a token of love and gratitude.

For her part, Sister Sara expressed her gratitude to the other nuns for their support, and asked them to pray for her in her new mission. After the election process and vote counting, Sister Samia Nassar was announced as the elected president of the URC.
