Jordan: The Union of Religious Congregations concludes sessions for 2025
By Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

The Union of Religious Congregations in Jordan concluded its distinguished meetings this year with a spiritual gathering inspired by the Easter feast, "I Live with Christ Risen from the Dead” which took place on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Terra Santa College in Jabal Luweibdeh, Amman. The meeting began by thanking God marking the election of the new Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, as a successor to Saint Peter and successor to the late Pope Francis, while wishing the elected Pope heavenly blessings as well as eternal peace for the late Pope Francis.

Later, Sister Cecile Hijazin delivered a welcoming address on behalf of the president of the Union of Religious Congregations in Jordan, during which she conveyed to the participants a glorious Easter greeting while wishing them that the Risen Christ would grant them His joy and light, as well as renew their hope and optimism.

Then Fr. Shawqi Batrian, director of Our Lady of Peace Center in Jordan, delivered a distinguished spiritual lecture in which he spoke about the meanings and implications of the mystery of the glorious Resurrection as well as the hope, joy, and good tidings of salvation it holds for every believer. He also focused on two fundamental aspects, namely faith, and life in addition to how we experience the Resurrection. The Holy Bible is the answer. The Holy Gospel of the post-resurrection apparitions is important for two reasons, namely a message to establish the essentials indicating that the crucified Jesus is the same as the Risen Jesus and that the crucified Jesus is the same Jesus who gives messages to His disciples. During the lecture, he focused on the practical aspects relevant to how to experience the resurrection in our lives.

The lecture was followed by a life experience expressed by an Iraqi family, namely the family of Mr. Jan Habib Al-Esho his wife Mrs. Maryam Abdul Latif Al-Kajal, and their three children Angela, Leonella, and Perlo. The members of the family spoke about their life experiences, the challenges they faced, and how they overcame them through prayer and reliance on God and the Blessed Mother.

Then, the participants went to the confessional which was followed by a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Rashid Mustrih, adviser of the Union of Religious Congregations in Jordan.

It is worth noting that this was the first Holy Mass held by the Union of Religious Congregations and celebrated by Fr. Mustrih with the aim of seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance of the successor of Saint Peter, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, to strengthen the believers in faith, and to pray for the repose of the soul of His Holiness the late Pope Francis.

With this conclusion of the meeting in this Jubilee Year of Hope, which was marked by an atmosphere filled with the joy of the Resurrection, there are hopes that the meetings will be renewed next year.
