The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has issued a statement conveying condolences marking the eruption of the Gaza Strip fire that claimed the life of least 21 people, where several others were hurt on Thursday, November 17.
The statement says:
"All the clergy and the faithful of Palestine stand in solidarity with our people of the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip after the explosion that led to 21 victims. We pray for the victims and their families, asking God to console them and heal the wounded, and for the policemen and firefighters."
Press reports indicate that at least 21 people were killed and several others were injured when a fire broke out in a building where residents attended a party in the Gaza Strip, on Thursday, November 17.
It took firefighters more than an hour to get control of the massive flames that burst through the top floor of a four-story residential building in the densely-populated Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.
Ambulances rushed several injured people to local hospitals to receive needed medical treatment.
