“For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 30:17)
The Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society (EMMS) organized a special ecumenical gathering under the theme: “Healing Our Weakness” on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Nazareth Hospital, one of the key institutions hosting the Society’s programs aimed at serving marginalized communities.
This spiritual event, held during the blessed Lenten season, brought together Christians to pray in unity for healing and reconciliation, with the participation of H.E. Msgr. Rafiq Nahra, Patriarchal Vicar for Galilee, and H.E. Archbishop Hosam Naoum, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, along with a number of priests, pastors, religious, and faithful.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Waseem Dabini, General Director of the Society, expressed his joy at the presence of this blessed gathering. He noted that the Society, founded in 1816, walks in the footsteps of Jesus, serving humanity with compassion. He emphasized its mission to empower and reintegrate marginalized individuals into society through various health and psychological programs, including a dedicated mental health department and investments in the field of mental wellness.
The evening was filled with prayers, inspiring reflections, and spiritual hymns, all of which reflected a spirit of love and inner preparation for Lent, aiming to plant hope in hearts and meditate on the Lord’s healing of both individual and communal weaknesses.
