Patriarch Youssef Absi, Greek Melkite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East arrived in Amman on Sunday, April 6, 2025 on a four-day visit to Jordan, during which he will meet with a number of officials.
Accompanied by Metropolitan George Haddad, Patriarch Absi celebrated a solemn Mass at the Greek Catholic Cathedral of St. George in Umm Al-Summaq. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem Bishop Yasser al-Ayyash, Patriarchal Administrator Archimandrite Boulos Nazha, and a number of priests in the presence of Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, Bishop Iyad Twal, a number of heads and representatives of churches in the Kingdom, in addition to dignitaries and the faithful.
It is noteworthy that the patriarchal visit, according to a statement issued by the media office of the diocese, takes place as a continuation of the plan of the Synod of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church so as to follow up on the achievements of the diocese's institutions and the projects implemented during the period following the first visit last September.
