Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa has sent a message of congratulations to His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein marking the 100th anniversary of Jordan’s foundation, 1921-2021.

His Beatitude congratulated His Majesty the King from Jerusalem on behalf of the family of the Latin Patriarchate including bishops, priests, religious men and women and believers, in Palestine, Jordan, Israel and Cyprus. He said, "I am pleased and honored to convey to Your Majesty, to Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Hussein ibn Abdullah, to the Royal Hashemite family, and to the people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan my sincere congratulations on the occasion of Jordan’s centennial.”

Patriarch Pizzaballa confirmed the willingness of the Latin Patriarchate to continue cooperation with His Majesty the King, through churches, schools and ecclesiastical institutions, that work in spiritual, cultural and humanitarian fields in the service of the Jordanian people, as well as in strengthening the values of peace, dialogue and common living.

Patriarch Pizzaballa concluded his message by pleading with the Almighty God  to preserve His Majesty King Abdullah's health and wisdom so as to lead the dear Jordanian people and steer the Jordanian ship to the land of security and stability, as well as to promote dialogue initiatives for the benefit of all. He also wished that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the Hashemite family, would continue its message to be an oasis of encounter for every human being. In this regard, he referred to the message of appreciation delivered by His Holiness Pope Francis on Easter Sunday early this month to Jordan, which hosted the refugee brethren and provided them with all needed material and moral assistance.
