The Union of Religious Congregations (URC) in Jordan has re-elected Sister Sarah Ghneim of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition as president of the URC for three years, namely 2024-2027. Rosary Sister Cecile Hijazin was also re-elected as secretary of the URC, while Sister Nuha Sadaqa of the Franciscan Sisters of the Cross was elected as new financial officer of the URC.
This was reported during the meeting held on Sunday November 24, 2024, at Terra Sancta College in Amman, in the presence of Spiritual Guide of the URC Franciscan Fr. Rashid Mustarih, and a number of sister superiors from various congregations operating in the Kingdom.
Furthermore, URC President in the Holy Land Sister Bruna Fasan, and URC Secretary Sister Su’ad Khalil participated in the meeting via videoconference, while Fr. Marco Riva was absent due to a sudden illness.
Later, Sister Bruna Fasa delivered an address during which she welcomed the participants in the meeting, and thanked the nuns who have served the URC in Jordan over the past three years and the Church in general.
On the other other hand, URC Secretary Sister Cecile Hijazin presented a detailed report on the activities carried out by the URC over the past three years. Then, financial officer Sister Maysoun Rihani presented another report covering the same period, and thanked all those who support the URC. Later, prayers were recited in honor of Blessed Mary, the first lady to be consecrated in the Church.
