At the invitation of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in Wisconsin, USA, Msgr. William Shomali, General Vicar of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, gave a lecture during the Archdiocese’s annual Priests Spring Convocation. The retreat took place from May 5 to 7, 2025, under the theme: “Priests: Pilgrims on the Path of Hope.” The theme reflects the priest’s daily journey, marked by challenges and perseverance, in service to the people of God in a constantly changing world.

The retreat saw the participation of Bishop Jeffrey Grob, the local ordinary, along with several auxiliary bishops and approximately 240 diocesan priests. The three-day gathering was deeply spiritual in nature, featuring reflections, lectures, and fraternal encounters that provided the clergy with moments of introspection and renewal, helping them rediscover God’s presence in their lives and ministry.

Following the retreat, Msgr. Shomali visited the Arab community of Our Lady of the Holy Land in Chicago, where Fr. Wissam Mansour serves. The visit was filled with spiritual and familial gatherings. Msgr. Shomali administered the Sacrament of First Holy Communion to 18 children from the parish in a joyful and faith-filled celebration, surrounded by the warmth of the community.

He also visited several families, joining them in praying the Rosary and lifting prayers for peace across the world. His pastoral visit concluded on Sunday, May 11, with the celebration of the Holy Mass for Good Shepherd Sunday. The occasion, which coincided with Mother’s Day in the United States, became a dual celebration—honoring Christ, the Good Shepherd, and mothers, whose love and care reflect God’s tender presence in the heart of every family.
