In the same basilica that holds the remains of St. Francis, Italy's most well-known saint, Carlo Acutis, became the first millennial to be beatified.

This remarkable event opens the door wide to a very interesting statement that beatified Carlo Acutis made once. The statement he made is still resounding and reverberating worldwide as it exudes sanctity, and purity. It is an enrooted devotion to the Savior of the World, Lord Jesus Christ.

Carlo Acutis once said: “When we face the sun we get a tan, but when we stand before Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist we become saints.”

As this statement reflects the temporary effect of the sun on tanning the bodies, it also reflects the permanent effect of the Eucharist in turning the faithful into saints.

It is to be admitted that tanning is temporal, while the effect of the Eucharist is permanent because in this case there is a real presence of Lord Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. This real presence of the Body and Blood of Lord Jesus can create peace, love, charity, and even a feeling of sanctity that can be felt on every person who receives the Holy Communion in faith.

On the night before He suffered on the Cross, Lord Jesus, shared one last meal with His disciples, during which he instituted the Sacrament of His Body and Blood. He did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross throughout the ages and to entrust to the Church a memorial of His death and resurrection.

Lord Jesus said, "I am the living bread that came down from Heaven, whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world… for my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink" (John 6:51-55).

The whole Christ is truly present, body, blood, soul, and divinity under the appearances of bread and wine. This is what Beatified Carlo Acutis meant since this presence of Lord Jesus Christ’s body and blood in the Eucharist is absolutely "real" and inexhaustible. Whoever receives the Holy Communion, namely the boy and blood of Lord Jesus, will have the Lord living in one’s heart and mind guiding one towards the paths of goodness and sanctity. The Eucharist, which represents a divine sacrifice, will definitely shove people into the road of sanctity.

It is to be admitted that “when we stand before Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist we become saints.”
