On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Apostolic Nuncio, Bishop Ghaleb Bader presided at a Holy Mass marking his priestly ordination at St. Elijah Church in Al-Wahdneh, Ajloun Governorate in northern Jordan. A number of priests, local residents, relatives, and friends attended the Holy Mass.
At the outset of the Holy Mass, Fr. Rif'at Bader delivered an address during which he welcomed Bishop Bader, thanking him for his service and knowledge while pleading with God to grant him a long life, good health, and to bless the town of Al-Wahadneh with new priestly vocations, as it has already produced several priests and nuns who serve the Church and its holy people.
Then Fr. Rif'at Bader reviewed Bishop Ghaleb's career, noting that he was ordained a priest on June 13, 1975 and he served faithfully and lovingly in the Latin Patriarchate, while earning degrees in law, canon law, theology, and philosophy. He also served as a teacher for years at the Latin Patriarchate Seminary in Beit Jala, presided ecclesiastical courts in Jerusalem and Amman, and served in several parishes, most notably the parish of Jabal Luweibdeh in Amman.
He also noted that in 2008 Pope Benedict XVI named him as archbishop of Algeria, being the first Arab to head the church where Saint Augustine was born. In 2012, he was also named Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, being the first Jordanian priest to hold this position. He continued his diplomatic service as apostolic nuncio to the Dominican Republic, and currently serves as apostolic nuncio in the Vatican.
Fr. Rif'at Bader also conveyed well-wishes on behalf of the parish priest, and the priests of the people of Al-Wahadenh township. He also asked Bishop Bader to remember them in his prayers from this altar where he celebrated his first priestly Holy Mass in 1975 and his first Episcopal Holy Mass in 2008.
Later, Bishop Ghaleb Bader delivered a concise account on the fire that has erupted in the parish hall, urging the attendees to thank God for His care and protection. He added that the hall needed maintenance a long time ago and no time was set for doing so "until God told us that today is the time for restoration." He promised that the hall would restore its former beauty, to be a second home for the parishioners, while hosting them on various occasions.
After reading verses from the Holy Bible, Bishop Ghaleb Bader delivered a homily in which he expressed his happiness at celebrating the Holy Mass and jointly meditating the priestly vocation which the Lord has bestowed upon many of the people of this parish. He quoted Lord Jesus Christ by referring to the Holy Bible, stressing that priesthood is a divine invitation in the first place, a free gift in the second place, as well as a service and mission in the third place.
Before the end of the Holy Mass, Fr. Bashir read out read out the Arabic-language translation of the message addressed to Bishop Ghaleb Bader by Pope Leo XIV marking the golden jubilee of his priestly ordination in which he recalls Bishop Ghaleb's achievements and bestowing him apostolic blessing.
The papal message reads (as translated from Arabic):
Venerable Brother Ghaleb Bader,
Archbishop of Matera, Apostolic Nuncio
"With fraternal sentiments, I congratulate you on the golden jubilee of your priestly ordination, while recalling your skillful achievements which were not confined to the good of the Holy See but also for the good of the Christian faithful in various nations, and conducted with great success. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, patron of the Universal Church, we wish you success and impart to you, all your family members, and relatives our Apostolic Blessing."
Pope Leo XIV

Later, he thanked all those who attended the Holy Mass and all those who contributed to its organization. He expressed his gratitude for everyone's cooperation in making this Jubilee Mass a success. Later, he received well-wishes at the church square in an atmosphere of jubilation accompanied by the music of the Tla' Al-'Ali scouts band.
