Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to deliver life-saving healthcare services in Gaza
A story reflecting the critical role Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to play in Gaza — delivering life-saving healthcare to families who have nowhere else to turn, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Fida Ahmed Moussa Fadaous, a 31-year-old mother living in Gaza, was suffering from a serious illness that left her extremely weak and unable to care for herself or her children. She experienced severe fatigue, fever, body pain, red eyes with blurred vision, and dangerously low blood pressure.

Before reaching Caritas Jerusalem, Fida visited several medical points, but she was unable to find the medication she urgently needed. Living in a tent under harsh conditions, with limited access to healthcare and sanitation, her condition continued to worsen.

When Fida arrived at one of Caritas Jerusalem’s medical points in Gaza, she was examined by Dr. Rima Hussain, who identified signs that raised clinical suspicion of leptospirosis — a serious bacterial infection linked to poor living conditions. Fida was immediately provided with appropriate treatment, including doxycycline, supplied by the Caritas Jerusalem pharmacy.

After the second dose, Fida began to feel better. By the end of the treatment, her condition had significantly improved, and her recovery was clear.

Relieved and grateful, Fida also brought her children to the medical point, where they received treatment as well.

“I came here and I got better,” Fida says in the video. “Thank you for your support. Thank you for providing us with treatment that we could not afford.”

Fida’s story reflects the critical role Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to play in Gaza — delivering life-saving healthcare to families who have nowhere else to turn, even in the most challenging circumstances.

It is worthy to note that Caritas Jerusalem is the social arm of the Catholic Church and an active member of the Caritas Internationalis Confederation. It serves and empowers the vulnerable people of the Holy Land; specifically, women, children, youth, elderly and people with disabilities through development, health, social and emergency programs designed to improve the quality of life in sustainable manner.
