On Tuesday March 30, the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) held a two-day training seminar titled, "The Proper Use of Social Media Networking: The Role of Media in Upgrading the Values of Common Living and Brotherhood Among Humans". Students from the Hashemite University, Philadelphia University, Balqa University, Yarmouk University, the German-Jordanian University, and the American University in Madaba participated in the seminar through digital communications technology.

During the seminar, CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif'at Bader stressed the importance of media in our time, especially its modern forms, in acting as a servant, rather than a destroyer, to the noble human dignity. He also thanked the Latin Patriarchate and Austrian Portex Institute for their support to the seminar.

Among the participants in the seminar was Ms. Sonia Zghoul who holds a BA degree in media from Yarmouk University and a diploma in diplomacy and public relations. She stressed during the seminar that morality aims at eliminating the problems awaiting humans and attaining happiness by setting rules aiming at alleviating the damage incurred by achievements triggered by the civilization in order to attain goodness for humanity.

Noting that media people have to abide by resorting to truth, accuracy, objectivity, neutrality and tolerance, she said that journalists should be qualified to practise this job at a time when the citizens have the right to receive information from journalists based on objectivity, fairness, balance, and abstaining from exaggeration.

University students, accompanied by some professors from the participating universities, participated in valuable interventions on the importance of using media in general, and on social networking sites in particular, with the aim of serving humans' dignity and their inalienable rights.

It is noteworthy that the Latin Patriarchate-affiliated CCSM organizes similar seminars annually in cooperation with several Jordanian universities. The CCSM also organizes and participates in annual conferences and seminars in Jordan and abroad.
