The Catholic Center for Studies and Media issues Jordan’s pastoral calendar 2026

By Munir Bayouk/ en.abouna.org :

The Latin Church’s new pastoral calendar in Jordan for 2026 has been published. It is carefully designed to serve as an inspiring spiritual procession that enables the faithful to be familiar with the life of saints throughout the year, as well as to draw inspiration from them by serving as a model in Christian practice and daily spiritual commitment.

Prepared by the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM), in cooperation the Latin Patriarchal Vicariate and Caritas Jordan, the calendar offers a monthly introduction to two or more saints. These saints were carefully selected among those canonized during the last 25 years of the 21st century, including Pope John Paul II (who was later canonized), Pope Benedict VI, Pope Francis, and the current Pope Leo XIV.

The feasts and activities listed in the calendar are fully aligned with the liturgical calendar which is prepared by the Liturgical Office of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It includes the dates of Christian feasts and pilgrimage days to holy sites in Jordan, making it a practical guide for the spiritual life of the faithful.

The calendar's cover features a group photograph of the Catholic Church in Jordan with Secretary of State of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin during his visit to the Kingdom in early 2025. In addition to this, there are photographs of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, elected in May 2025, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, and Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal who was consecrated bishop in February 2025.

The CCSM, which has strived every year since its founding to enrich the faithful with issues germane to piety and Christian witness, hopes that the 2026 calendar will be more than just an annual calendar, while serving as a daily companion that provides inspirations to believers, guides them toward deep spiritual reflection, and motivates them to emulate the life of saints to persevere in good deeds and Christian service.

The CCSM conveys well wishes for a blessed and a happy new year 2026.
