First Groups of "the Messengers of Divine Mercy" in Jordanian parishes launched

The "Messengers of Divine Mercy" group in Jordan have celebrated the Feast of Divine Mercy at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Na’our. The Holy Mass, marking the launch of the first group of "the Messengers of Divine Mercy" in Jordanian parishes, was held in an atmosphere of prayer and contemplation that began with the chaplet of the Divine Mercy and included a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Bashir Bader, and concelebrated by Deacon Jibran Salameh, in the presence of  a gathering of the faithful, particularly from the parishes of Na’our and Marj Al-Hamam.

In his homily, Father Bashir Bader recalled the history of the feast and the mission entrusted by merciful Lord Jesus to Saint Faustina Kowalska  to proclaim to the world His boundless mercy, to pray, and to strive towards spreading the devotion to His mercy. He stressed that mercy is not merely an idea to be recounted, but rather a mission and a life to be lived. It is a living Person named Jesus Christ, who came to pour upon the wounds of the world peace, tenderness, mercy, and healing from the heart of the Heavenly Father.

Before receiving the Holy Communion, the faithful offered prayers of consecration to Divine Mercy as they entrusted themselves and their families--with all their weaknesses, hopes, present, and future--to the merciful Heart of Jesus. They renewed their covenant of trust and declared their commitment to be living witnesses of mercy, messengers of peace and love in every place, in the hope that this movement would grow and spread across the various parishes of Jordan.

It is worthy to note that the community dates back to the year 2000, when a group of believers in Amman responded to the Church's call to spread the devotion to Divine Mercy following its proclamation as a universal feast during the pontificate of Pope Saint John Paul II. The community has faithfully gathered, and prayed with dedication and sacrifice, as well as participated with love and enthusiasm in both international and regional conferences.

Marking the 25th anniversary of the feast's proclamation and the canonization of Sister Faustina, official recognition of the community within the local Church was approved, along with a call for a broad initiative to establish "the Messengers of Divine Mercy" communities in parishes across Jordan. This was announced by Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, in a special message addressed to the Church in Jordan, under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Bashir Bader.
