bethlehem.edu :

On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, Bethlehem University (BU) gathered as one community to celebrate De La Salle Day, honoring Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and patron saint of educators worldwide. The annual celebration reflects BU’s enduring commitment to the Lasallian values of faith, service, community, and quality education.

The celebration brought together faculty, staff, administrators, and the De La Salle Brothers in a spirit of prayer and community.

The celebration began with a memorial Mass held at the Chapel of the Divine Child on campus, bringing together faculty, staff, administration, and members of the university community in a spirit of prayer and reflection. A meaningful part of the ceremony was the renewal of vows by the De La Salle Brothers, reaffirming their dedication to the Lasallian educational mission and their commitment to serving students through education and human development.

Following the Mass, a recognition ceremony was held to honor retired employees and staff members celebrating service milestones ranging from five to 45 years at Bethlehem University. The ceremony was led by Br. Hernán Santos, FSC, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, and Br. Peter Iorlano, FSC, Vice President for Human Resources, who presented tokens of appreciation in recognition of the employees’ years of dedication, commitment, and contribution to the University community.

The celebration served as an opportunity to express gratitude to faculty and staff whose work continues to strengthen BU’s mission and impact. Since its establishment in 1973, Bethlehem University has remained rooted in the Lasallian tradition of providing transformative education centered on human dignity, social responsibility, and service to the community.

De La Salle Day remains one of the University’s cherished annual traditions, celebrating not only the legacy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, but also the people who continue to carry forward his vision through their daily work and commitment to education.

This annual celebration reflects Bethlehem University’s ongoing commitment to the Lasallian values of faith, service, community, and quality education, while honoring those who continue to carry this mission forward through their work and dedication.
