Third-year Occupational Therapy students from Bethlehem University’s Tarek Ahmad Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences have played an active role in the 11th Medical Awareness Day hosted by the Health and Environment Unit at the Lajee Center in Aida Refugee Camp. The event brought together medical professionals from various specialties and served over 200 individuals from Aida Camp, Azza Camp, and surrounding areas in the Bethlehem Governorate.
The participation of Bethlehem University (BU) students reflects BU's mission to combine academic excellence with meaningful community engagement. As part of their community-based learning, the occupational therapy students operated interactive booths that offered health guidance and practical training to attendees. The students focused on critical wellness areas such as correct sitting posture, injury prevention, self-care routines, and strategies for managing and preventing low back pain and fatigue—both at home and in the workplace.
By integrating clinical knowledge with real-world service, the event allowed students to deepen their practical experience while contributing to public health awareness in marginalized communities. Their work embodies Bethlehem University’s commitment to service-learning and to forming healthcare professionals who are not only clinically competent but also dedicated to social responsibility.
Bethlehem University proudly supports initiatives that empower students to apply their knowledge in ways that serve the broader community and uphold the dignity and well-being of every individual.
