In a festive atmosphere, filled with joy, pride, and a sense of accomplishment, the Terra Sancta School of Jerusalem held the graduation ceremony of its 72nd class on June 6, despite the exceptional challenges faced over the course of the school year.
First among these was the suspension of lessons for 40 days due to the war; the ceremony, held in the school courtyard, confirmed the capacity of the institute and the students to overcome difficulties and to continue their path of excellence and dedication.
Br. Ibrahim Faltas, director of Terra Sancta School Jerusalem said, "It was a difficult year, we went through hard times. For this reason, today joy fills everyone, and I wish them success, that they may make us proud--us and their families--and that they may achieve excellent results. Last year, three students from this school were among the top ten in the city of Jerusalem."
Meanwhile, Brother Ibrahim invited the students to recite the hymn of Saint Francis, "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace," underlining that it represents the founding charter of the school, upon which education in peace and love is based.
In his speech, Brother Francesco Ielpo, Custos of the Holy Land, extended his best wishes to the graduates, emphasizing that they carry a special responsibility. He said: "As children of Jerusalem, they are called to be artisans of peace and to put their talents at the service of others."
He added, "But the message is very simple and very important: commitment in life — from those who truly commit, from those who study — will open possibilities for the future. Commitment builds qualified and professionally sound personalities to build the future of this city and of their country."
Representatives of the Custody, diplomats, professors, employees, and the students' families participated in a ceremony rich with artistic presentations and speeches by the graduates.
Dima Mujahid, a graduate, said: "I thank the administrative and teaching staff who taught me to walk the right path and instilled in me human values that I will carry with me throughout my life, wherever I go. The school has been not just a place of learning, but also our second home, rich in beautiful memories that will remain forever in our hearts."
Mohammad Aljoulani, a graduate, said: "I tell the graduating students that every effort you make today will shape your future tomorrow."
Tribute was also paid to the teaching staff as a sign of gratitude for their commitment to filling the educational gaps and ensuring the continuity of the educational process in the best possible way. Recognitions and prizes were furthermore presented to the most deserving students.
The ceremony reflected the joy of the milestone achieved and the hope for a better tomorrow, which will remain a luminous milestone in the history of the Terra Sancta School of Jerusalem, and a testimony of the will that triumphs over challenges.
