On Monday, March 9, 2026, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan Mr. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, visited the Latin Vicariate in Amman, accompanied by Executive Director of Friends of Jordan Festivals Association Ms. Suha Buwab, where he met with Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal.
During the meeting, the discussions focused on national and cultural heritage, and the importance of preserving the historical and religious identity that forms an essential part of the Jordanian landscape, where Mr. Chatzisavas affirmed the European Union's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the protection and safeguarding of cultural heritage for future generations. He added that such cooperation contributes to fostering the values of dialogue and cultural diversity.
For his part, Bishop Twal underlined the role the Church plays in protecting national heritage and in unveiling its human and spiritual values, stressing that the preservation of heritage is a collective responsibility that reflects a deep sense of belonging to the land and its history.
