Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal has received Her Excellency Ms. Tselane Mokuena, ambassador of South Africa to Jordan, at the Latin Vicariate.
The meeting was not merely a formal courtesy visit, but rather served as an opportunity to look into means to exchange views on strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation, in addition to supporting joint initiatives that benefit the local community. The discussions dealt with the importance of Christian pilgrimage to Jordan being a spiritual bridge connecting believers from different continents to the Holy Land.
Bishop Twal noted that the Church views such a relationship as an opportunity to expand dialogue among religions and cultures. For her part, Ambassador Mokuena expressed her appreciation for the Church’s role in promoting the values of cordiality and solidarity, as well as affirmed her country’s desire to build new bridges of cooperation with Jordan at both the humanitarian and diplomatic levels.
