Within the framework of the Youth Volunteer Program, the Cluster of Love Center (CLC) in Jordan has hosted Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Amin Ghaliyeh, director of the office of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, and Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader, director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media, for a panel discussion titled, “Common Living: Aspirations, Prospects for Dialogue and Challenges.”

The panel  discussion was moderated by CLC Director Fr. Imad Alamat and Executive Director Ms. Nancy Shahateet, in the presence of a number of young people and university students from various Jordanian universities.

The panel discussion featured an interactive discussion on the concept of common living as well as its importance in strengthening a culture of mutual respect and citizenship. Sheikh Ghaliyeh and Fr. Bader gave open and objective answers to questions by the participants. The event also included screenings of several short films addressing the values of dialogue, fraternity, and common living.

The discussions focused on the reasons that made Jordan earn a distinguished international position in the fields of dialogue and common living, as well as the most prominent challenges facing this culture today, both within local communities and at the global level, in addition to ways of transforming differences and diversity into opportunities for dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in a way that upholds human dignity and serves society.

Both speakers underlined a broad range of shared human and faith-based values between Muslims and Christians, foremost of them being cordiality, compassion, tolerance, peace, and respect for human dignity. They stressed the importance of transcending these values beyond rhetoric into daily practice and practical initiatives, particularly among young generations.

They listened to questions and interventions from university students, and praised Jordanian initiatives that have played a pioneering role in promoting a culture of dialogue and common living, while emphasizing the importance of developing them further, and strengthening this Jordanian model based on fraternity, citizenship, and respect for diversity.

The speakers called for greater positive and responsible use of the media, social media outlets, and AI technologies, as well as employing them to promote a culture of encounter and mutual respect, as well as to counter hate speech, intolerance, and division, while highlighting the positive initiatives and inspiring models adopted by Jordan.

The panel discussion stressed that common living is not merely a slogan, but rather a culture, a responsibility, and a daily practice. It also emphasized that young people are a fundamental pillar in protecting and developing this culture, in a way that maintains Jordan as a leading model of common living, human fraternity, and dialogue.
