On Monday, August 16, 2021, Fr. Ibrahim Shomali transferred his duties as Chancellor to Fr. Davide Meli, in presence of His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
As Chancellor, Fr. Davide, alongside his staff, directly assists the Bishops and supports and helps the faithful and communities in carrying out their mission according to the provisions laid down by the Church at the universal and diocesan levels, in accordance with Canon Law. The Chancellery manages the day-to-day affairs of the Diocese, handling all written and official documents, registration and care of the archives for the Diocesan Church.
Fr. Davide was born in Rome, Italy on April 22, 1984. He studied at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Architecture. After being ordained a priest in June of 2014, he served as Vicar at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Al Husson in Jordan, before pursuing his studies in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome in 2016.
