Christian Youth Group in Galilee concluded the year 2025, with spiritual gatherings and celebrations for the young group and another for the older aged groups, exploring the theme of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
These activities are important nourishment for the spiritual and communal life of the youth, who come from various parishes across Galilee to enjoy a time of fellowship, prayer, and rest.
“My Friend, the King”
On November 22, the Secretary General of the Youth welcomed 90 young boys and girls to a lively encounter titled “My Friend, the King.” The day invited young participants to discover what genuine friendship with Jesus looks like, how to walk with Him daily, deepen their personal faith. The day began with an opening prayer and dynamic icebreakers, then a Franciscan Brother led a heartfelt spiritual session, guiding the youth into a deeper understanding of Christ’s personal love and the importance of nurturing this friendship in everyday life.
Interactive activities strengthened teamwork, belonging, and trust among the participants.
The encounter ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Ramiz Twal, the youth chaplain, followed by a moment of gratitude that crowned this beautiful spiritual experience.
“The Coming of the King”
On December 6, the central gathering for high-school, university, and young-adult groups was held under the title “The Coming of the King.” Held at the beginning of Advent, this meeting cultivates anticipation and hope, encouraging the participants to take a moment to check in with their hearts, to renew their awareness of God’s living presence in their daily lives.
Msgr. Rafiq Nahra, Patriarchal Vicar for Galilee, led the opening prayer and offered inspiring words, uniting all in a shared desire to welcome God’s work within them, and through them.
A special video message followed from His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, who spoke to the youth about the meaning of this sacred season and reminded them of their essential role in building the Church and witnessing to Christ with joy, courage, and peace.
Fr. Ramiz Twal, Youth Chaplain of Galilee, then guided the participants in a spiritual reflection on how to be still before God, fostering a deeper spiritual interior life.
The day concluded with a Eucharistic Adoration, celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Msgr. Nahra Nahra, and attended by the former patriarch Michel Sabbah who joined the youth, granting them spiritual paternal wisdom.
At the end, the new motto for the year 2026, was announced: “For the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10), and the members of the General Secretariat renewed their annual vow to serve the youth for the third year. New committee members were also appointed, marking a hopeful beginning for another year of service and growth.
